Information for Delegates and Observers

Thank you for registering for the 66th Maori Women’s Welfare League National Conference being hosted by Tairawhiti at the Events Centre 20 Main Road Makaraka Gisborne.

CONFERENCE DATES

Tuesday 25 September:          Oratory Contests
Wednesday 26 September:  Day 1 66th MWWL National Conference powhiri and Opening
Thursday 27 September:       Day 2 Conference Business and Ra Maharatanga
Friday 28 September:              Day 3 Conference Business and Social Evening
Saturday 29 September:        Day 4 Election Results Handing over of the Mauri and Closing

REGISTRATIONS

Registration is $200 for senior members and $100 for rangatahi members. It includes meals as per our conference programme, and the Social Evening. The further payment of $10 is for the Conference Book.

Branch registrations must be completed electronically on the form published on the MWWL website and emailed to your regional treasurer. Payments must be made by direct credit using your branch initials as the reference. Your Area Representative will provide the relevant email and bank account details.

TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION

Branches are responsible for the arrangement and cost of their own travel and accommodation.

ORATORY CONTESTS

Materials: All oratory forms, including topics, timeframes, profiles and judging forms are published on the MWWL website.

Topics: Six topics have been set for the Junior, Intermediate, and Senior sections of Nga Pu Korero. One topic has been selected for the Wahine Prepared section.

Topics have been drawn from the Objects of the Maori Women’s Welfare League with the addition of the Conference Whakatauki and one topic each from the Ministry of Education and Electoral Commission.

NATIONAL COMPETITIONS

Branch Reports must be handed in after the hakari on Day 1. The entry forms and judging forms are published on the MWWL website. Please familiarise yourself with the judging criteria so you can be best prepared with your entry.

Craft Competitions must be handed in after the hakari on Day 1. The entry forms and judging forms are published on the MWWL website. Please familiarise yourself with the judging criteria so you can be best prepared with any entries that you may submit.

Te Reo Resources must be handed in after the hakari on Day 1. The entry forms and judging forms are published on the MWWL website. Please familiarise yourself with the judging criteria so you can be best prepared with any entries that you may submit

Judging of all competitions will be completed by the end of Day 2

Collection of Entries will take place on Day 3

Presentation of Trophies will take place on Day 4
